Inspired to Unlock

Voices Unlocked is a student project by and for students...

In second grade, founder Zac C. spent his recesses playing football and soccer. When he arrived home from school, he would spend fifteen minutes tearfully attempting to read Bob books as his brother whizzed through volumes of The Magic Treehouse. Zac faced a  diagnosis of dyslexia and other learning differences. Despite his dyslexia, Zac persevered word by word. Defying the odds, he overcame his learning differences with the help of gifted teachers. Soon after, Zac discovered the joy of writing and, albeit hesitantly, submitted pieces to literary magazines. To his surprise, Zac's dreams of publication were realized in seventh grade. His recognition turned his craving to write up to the max. Now, Zac hopes to help similar students find the joy of writing. He has been featured in multiple literary journals including a publication affiliated with an Ivy League university.

Zac would like to thank the following exceptional elementary school teachers: Ms. H, Ms. Stephens, Mr. Ratcliff, Ms. Thomas, Ms. Parnello, Mrs. E, and the late Ms. Potts. Zac is blessed beyond words to have learned from these teachers.

Zac launched Voices Unlocked as a way to celebrate and recognize the hard work of students with language-based learning differences.

Currently, Zac enjoys spitting rhymes with his friends, cooking with his family, and playing basketball. He loves watching the Golden State Warriors and listening to 21 Savage, Don Toliver, and J. Cole.
